Dex currently supports three Pokémon TCG regions: International, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. This article explains why other regions are not available.
Which Regions Are Supported?
Dex supports the following TCG regions:
- International: Covers English, German, French, and other print languages.
- Japanese: Covers the Japanese TCG market.
- Simplified Chinese: Covers the Simplified Chinese TCG market.
You can switch between these regions at any time from the region selector in the app.
Why Aren't Other Regions Available?
Every region in Dex relies on complete and verified data: full set lists, accurate card details, and high quality card scans. Without this, you would encounter missing cards, incorrect information, or blank images in your collection.
For regions outside the three currently supported, this level of data simply does not exist:
- Incomplete set lists: Set lists for other regional TCGs are rarely documented in full, which would leave gaps in your collection tracker.
- Missing card images: High quality scans of cards from unsupported regions are not widely available, so many cards would appear without images.
Adding a region with incomplete data would result in an unreliable experience, and that is not something you should have to deal with.
What About Traditional Chinese and Korean?
Traditional Chinese and Korean are the two most frequently requested regions. Unfortunately, the same data limitations apply. Reliable and complete data sources for these regions do not exist today, so adding them would mean an incomplete and inaccurate experience for collectors. There are no plans to add these regions in the foreseeable future.
Why These Three Regions?
International, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese are the most popular and widely collected TCG regions. Complete and verified data is available for all three, which means you get accurate set lists, full card details, and proper card images across your entire collection.
If you collect cards from a region not currently supported, know that data availability is the only thing standing in the way. Should reliable sources become available in the future, adding new regions becomes possible.
